December was a Great Month of Giving Back!!

  • Jan 15, 2024

I love December!!  It is packed with so much goodness, giving back, celebration and being with family & friends.  This year was especially nice since I wasn't recovering from 3, yes 3 surgeries in 2 months like last year!!!

The first weekend of December always starts off with a bang - the Holly Springs Police Foundation holds their Shop with a Hero and Stuff a Truck Event.

Next comes Chamber Events, like Good Morning Cherokee a few ribbon cuttings, committee meetings and Legislative Luncheon.  I love GMC because it means I get to see some of my LC17 friends!!

I did a tour at one of our Partner Schools, Tippens Education Center.  I also went out to surprise Mr. Gabriel at Free Home ES.  You have to go check out that blog, if you haven't yet.

The second weekend is always the Canton Optimist Parade in the coolest small town, the City of Canton.  It's an all day event.  We are there bright & early marking spaces for the vendor Merry Market, then the stage lights up with bands & music.  The crowning event is the nighttime parade.  This year we added float judging and collected food for the CCSD School Pantry.

I also fit in a Rockin' Raider and Spirit of the Season donation for Teasley Middle School, on behalf of the Canton Optimist Club.  Speaking of Spirit of the Season those Teasley Raiders definitely brought the spirit that day!!!  It was a great way to start the morning.  It was a bonus to see the Teasley Raider JOI (Junior Optimist Club) participating in the festivities.

The Rotary Club of Canton was next with a day of service at The Children's Haven, decorating a float, a visit from the choirs at Liberty and Hasty Elementary.  They were wonderful and treated us to some great Christmas Music.  Mrs. Claus also happened to be there to celebrate.  Last for Rotary was our Holiday Party.  It's always fun to gather with friends for a little holiday cheer!!

Belive it or not, I'm not out and about every day - it just seems like it. For our YMCA board party, we were treated to an hour and a half pickelball lesson. It was so much fun!!!  I never knew!! We had lunch together and had a great time talking.

We had the opportunity to get all dressed up and attend a Night Out with Goshen for their end of the year fundraising event. It was great meeting new people and seeing some I haven't seen in awhile.

We enjoyed a great Allegro company dinner with lots of laughs and yummy food. A brunch with some amazing friends - I really have to get better at taking pics - I missed both of those.  Dinner out with some friends who take pics and make me sing Christmas songs - that's just crazy.

I'm lucky and my family all lives close so Christmas Eve was at Mom & Travis' and Christmas morning was at my house with a great big ol' breakfast!! Christmas Dinner was with framily.

I hope your December was as amazing as mine!!!  David and I wish you and you family a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
